Over 3.8k eateries to offer discounts on National Day

More than 3,800 eateries across the city will offer free perks and discounts of up to 30 percent off on October 1 to celebrate National Day. This year marks the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. For the first time ever, food courts at shopping malls in places such as Kai Tak and Kowloon Bay, as well as hotels, will also take part in the campaign. Catering sector lawmaker Jonathan Leung noted the number of participating restaurants had surpassed those that were offering discounts back on the July 1 Establishment Day holiday. He said the industry was not aiming to generate additional profits by rolling out the campaign. "We just want to promote Hong Kong. We want to make it a mega event, it's like every year people remember this day, they should come to Hong Kong to enjoy such a promotion," the legislator said. "It is not about profit, it's about our cooperation to promote Hong Kong." HWASEONG, Gyeonggi Province — Hwaseong, a rapidly developing city southwest of Seoul, has become one of Korea’s major destinations for foreign residents, particularly migrant workers.
