HK rowers add gold, bronze at Asian Games

Hong Kong, China rowers added two more medals to the delegation's Asian Games campaign in Japan on Thursday, including a gold in the men’s lightweight single sculls event. Chiu Hin-chun topped the podium with a winning time of six minutes and 50.32 seconds, finishing more than two seconds ahead of silver medallist Amirhossein Mahmoodpour Shahrestani of Iran. South Korea’s Park Hyun-su took bronze to round out the podium. Chiu’s victory marks Hong Kong's fourth gold medal of the Games, and his first individual gold in three Asian Games appearances. The veteran’s success was quickly followed by Lam San-tung and Chan Tik-lun, who bagged a bronze medal in the men’s lightweight double sculls. The SAR duo finished the race in six minutes and 24.84 seconds, behind the pairs from Uzbekistan and Indonesia, who took gold and silver respectively. HWASEONG, Gyeonggi Province — Hwaseong, a rapidly developing city southwest of Seoul, has become one of Korea’s major destinations for foreign residents, particularly migrant workers.
