Privacy watchdog probes pinhole cameras in Sha Tin gym

The Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data (PCPD) on Monday launched a compliance check on 24/7 Fitness, after hidden pinhole cameras were discovered inside the changing rooms at its Sha Tin gym. PCPD said the discovery had raised concerns among members of the fitness chain about their privacy and the compliance check was to ensure that their personal data is adequately protected. The watchdog said it had required the company to provide further information on security measures it has implemented following the incident to safeguard members' personal data. The PCPD said it would also examine whether such measures are sufficient to prevent similar incidents from recurring. Edited by Tony Sabine
