Nominations of 1,115 EC poll candidates deemed valid

The Registration and Electoral Affairs said on Friday that the nominations of 1,115 candidates running for the Election Committee Subsector Ordinary Elections next month are deemed valid. Of those, 856 will compete for 723 seats across 31 subsectors. The remaining 259 candidates are returned uncontested in five other subsectors. The Electoral Affairs Commission will hold a briefing session for candidates on Tuesday to familiarise them with the electoral arrangements and various regulations. On the day of the polls on November 22, five ordinary polling stations will open from 9am to 6pm. Edited by Edmond Fong
