A ceremony was held on Sunday at the City Hall Memorial Garden to pay tribute to those who died in the defence of Hong Kong between 1941 and 1945. The annual event, held on Chung Yeung Festival, began at 8am. After the national anthem was played and a flag-raising ceremony was held, attendees observed a two-minute moment of silence. Chief Executive John Lee laid a wreath during the ceremony. Lee wrote on his social media that people should draw lessons from history and cherish the hard-won peace and stability, and continue working for the future of Hong Kong. Vice-Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, CY Leung, former chief executive Donald Tsang, and other senior officials also attended the ceremony. Edited by Tony Sabine
