The Housing Bureau said on Friday that 93.2 percent of owners at Wang Fuk Court have signed the Agreement for Sale and Purchase (ASP) before the deadline, with the government pledging to handle remaining cases on a case-by-case basis. A total of 1,850 owners from the eight blocks of the Tai Po estate have signed the ASP, the bureau said in a statement. The deadline expired on Thursday. The remaining owners, about 6.8 percent, were unable to sign in time due to special circumstances, according to the bureau. These include cases requiring more time to clarify or handle property title issues such as probate, bankruptcy, title disputes, cases involving mentally incapacitated persons, or owners currently outside Hong Kong. The bureau said such circumstances are also encountered in private market transactions. It said the government may consider making appropriate arrangements on a case-by-case basis at its discretion, "while balancing empathy, reason and law, with priority given to empathy". The government will continue to follow up on the assignment procedures at full speed to complete the transfer of titles, the spokesman added. Edited by Aaron Tam
