Market Highlights

The notable market driver for the global industrial gearbox market growth is the growing adoption of industrial automation across various industries. The use of industrial gearboxes is increasing in various industries as well as applications within those industries. Some of the major applications that require heavy use of industrial gearboxes include automobiles, cement machinery, electric overhead traveling cranes, machine tools, material handling equipment, and sugar machinery. Some examples of machine tools include drilling machines, grinding machines, and milling machines. Another important market driver for industrial gearbox is the increasing investment in renewable power generation with a shift towards wind power.

Industrial Gearbox Market Segmental Analysis

The global industrial gearbox market segmentation has segmented the market into design, industry, type, and region. The design-based segmentation of this market covers the angled axis and parallel axis.

Based on industry, the market is being been segmented into agriculture, automotive, cement & aggregates, chemicals, construction, food & beverage, marine, material handling, metals & mining, power generation (excluding wind power), recreational vehicle, rubber & plastic, transportation industry (excluding automotive), wind power, and others. The material handling segment includes lawn & turf. The “other” segment covers conveyer equipment for a larger group of manufacturing industries.

Global Industrial Gearbox Market Regional Outlook

The regional segmentation of the global industrial gearbox market has segmented the market into the regional markets, known as North America, Europe, South America, Asia Pacific, and the Middle East & Africa (MEA).

Being the largest regional market, the Asia Pacific region is expected to grow during the forecast period due to the growing use of industrial gearbox in many manufacturing industries. Due to this growth, automation in industries like the automobile, agriculture machinery, and food processing, is expected to increase. The increase in investments for renewable power generation with a shift towards wind power is also driving the industrial gearbox market growth. The prestigious country-specific markets in this region are China, Japan, India, and South Korea, followed by the remaining countries of the Asia Pacific region.

In North America, the market is strong due to technological advancement, established automotive industry, and stable manufacturing industry. USA and Canada are the most important country-specific markets in this region. In South America, the market is sizable but not as big as North America because South America is yet to achieve the level of technological advancement that North America has already achieved. The serious country-specific markets in this region are Argentina, and Brazil, followed by the remaining countries of South America.

Europe is a great regional market due to the reasons that pretty much are the same as in North America. However, many important market players are also based in Europe. The vital country-specific markets in this region are France, Germany, Italy, Russia, and the UK, followed by the remaining countries of Europe.

In the MEA region, the market is paltry due to the limited availability of advanced technology. The big-league country-specific markets in this region are Saudi Arabia, UAE, and South Africa, followed by the remaining countries of the MEA region.

China's trade rep says 'external pressures' can help economy

Jun 16, 2019

BEIJING — Chinese media say the country's top trade negotiator has told a forum in Shanghai that "external pressures" can help the economy. Hong Kong's South China Morning Post and mainland Chinese media outlets reported Thursday that Vice Premier Liu He described the pressures that China is currently facing as an "inevitable test." He said the pressures "will help us improve innovation and self-development, speed up reform and opening up, and push forward with high-quality growth." The South China Morning Post says he did not directly reference the U.S.-China trade dispute. The U.S. has accused China of stealing trade secrets...

Asian stocks mostly lower after retreat on Wall Street

Jun 16, 2019

TOKYO — Shares were mostly lower in Asia on Wednesday and Hong Kong's Seng index tumbled 1.7% as thousands continued protests against proposed legislation that many city residents fear could further erode the territory's legal autonomy. Renewed jitters over the trade war between the U.S. and China were weighing on sentiment, pulling shares slightly lower on Wall Street, where benchmarks fell for the first time in six days. Japan's Nikkei 225 index lost 0.2% to 21,154.28 and the Kospi in Seoul shed 0.2% to 2,1087.60. The Shanghai Composite index declined 0.5% to 2,910.82. Australia's S&P ASX 200 edged 0.1% higher...

North Korea says it's fighting swine fever with quarantine

Jun 16, 2019

SEOUL, South Korea — North Korea said Wednesday it is actively fighting the spread of the highly contagious African swine fever weeks after it reported an outbreak near its border with China. The North's official Rodong Sinmun newspaper said workers around the country were proceeding with "airtight" quarantine efforts to prevent the spread of the disease and ensure safety in livestock production. African swine fever has decimated pig herds in China and other Asian countries. It's harmless to people but is fatal to pigs and has no known cure. There's concern in South Korea that the outbreak in the North...

China telecom giant Huawei hints US pressure hurting sales

Jun 16, 2019

SHANGHAI — Huawei's chief strategist said Tuesday the company would have become the world's number one smartphone maker by the year's end if not for "unexpected" circumstances — a hint that pressure from the U.S. may be hurting its sales. The comment by Shao Yang at the Consumer Electronics Show in Shanghai comes as Washington intensifies pressure on other countries to exclude Huawei Technologies from next-generation, or 5G, telecom networks where it actually is considered an industry leader. "If we had not encountered anything unexpected, we would have become number one in the world by the fourth quarter," Huawei's chief...

China's trade surplus soars, as exports unexpectedly edge up

Jun 16, 2019

BEIJING — Chinese exports edged up in May, surprising markets, but analysts say the rebound is likely to be short-lived given higher U.S. tariffs and slowing global growth. China's monthly trade surplus jumped 78% to $41.7 billion, as exports rose 1.1% to $213.8 billion and imports fell 8.5% to $172.2 billion, the Chinese customs agency said Monday. The fall in imports reflects weak domestic demand, analysts said. The rise in exports came despite a worsening trade war with the United States in which both countries have raised tariffs on each other's products. "While exports rose in May, weaker global demand...
